A resolution transferring the 24 acres of surplus property at 30th and Muhammad Ali Blvd. to Seed Capital KY for the development of the West Louisville FoodPort was passed unanimously by the Council’s Labor & Economic Development committee on February 2. The full council will pass the transfer on February 11.

This $31 million (Phase 1) project is a transformative economic and community development project for West Louisville.

Located in the Russell area, the site sits at the juncture of three District 5 neighborhoods of Russell, Shawnee and Portland.

Last week the Chicago-based company, Farmed Here announced that it would build a $23.5 million indoor farm at the West Louisville FoodPort. If all goes as planned, an August groundbreaking is projected.
